Ree George is a PreKure Certified Health Coach specialising in burnout, anxiety and addictive behaviours.
By Ree George
I work with clients who are experiencing disordered eating, have been diagnosed with anxiety or depression, or have a curiosity about the role alcohol plays in their lives. I also work with friends and family who have loved ones in the throes of an addiction.
As a working mum with three children, I focus my coaching on women who are juggling busy lives, marriage/relationships, children, family and careers and who are possibly leaning on addictive behaviours to help them get through challenging times.
As a Health Coach I help clients identify and understand what they want to change in their lives, and guide them through the coaching process to help them create lasting behaviour change.
My background is in Physiotherapy and Pilates (manual and movement therapy). As a Health Coach, I now combine a hands-on approach of myofascial release/massage with stretching and flexibility to work with the body. I also use coaching techniques to stretch and release the mind, and peel away behaviour patterns, old beliefs and practices that are no longer serving my clients.
As a Health Coach I help clients identify and understand what they want to change in their lives, and guide them through the coaching process to help them create lasting behaviour change. Making big changes without support and accountability can be incredibly difficult, and I am here to make the process a little easier.
[I] decided to sign up for the Health Coach Certificate, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life!
At the end of 2019 I decided to embark on an experiment for 2020 – to have an alcohol-free year. I was keen to explore what was required to make a (what I saw as a) huge behaviour change, to see what positive impacts it may have on my own life, and also so that I could better understand my own coaching clients as they worked through their own health-related behaviour changes in the future.
In January 2020 I came across PreKure and decided to sign up for the Health Coach Certificate, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life! During the course, the labs were my own ‘accountability sessions’ with fellow PreKure students, and I am proud to report back that as of the end of April 2021 I am now 490 days alcohol-free and going strong!
My advice for others thinking about starting their study journey with PreKure is to talk to as many Health Coaches as you can, so that you can learn more about the scope of practice of health coaching, and the various areas you are able to work in (Primary care, private practice, corporate coaching etc). I also spoke to Paula and Louise from PreKure as I was making my decision about which coaching course to enrol in, and it was after these two conversations that I knew PreKure was the course, and the community for me!
