CPD (Continuing Professional Development)

We are proud of your ongoing growth & success as a PREKURE Certified Health Coach as collectively we work together to drive better health outcomes.
We follow the HCANZA professional body standards for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to ensure the ongoing quality and high standards that PREKURE Health Coaches are known for.
Ensuring our Health Coaches complete annual CPD supports our mutual success and protects the strong reputation of our community of Health Coaches. Maintaining regular CPD will also help you manage your own learning, growth and health coaching competency.
How to maintain your CPD:
In order to maintain your status as Active PREKURE Certified Health Coach:
- We recommend that all our Health Coaches become professional HCANZA members. HCANZA members will log their CPD through HCANZA each year. We simply ask for a record of this so we can ensure you are remaining current in your learning.
- HCANZA membership may not be right for you if you are a health professional and maintaining your CPD through another professional body. Again in this instance we simply need a record of your annual CPD.
- If you aren’t maintaining your CPD through a professional body then PREKURE can administer this on your behalf. This is a free service if you are a PREKURE Network member, or otherwise there is a $150 admin fee for us to process this for you.
Do I have to renew my CPD?
No. You will retain your original Health Coaching certification regardless of whether you maintain your CPD. However annual CPD is a requirement if you want to retain your status as an active PREKURE Certified Health Coach and use of the PREKURE Certified Health Coach brand name and brand mark.
Why should I maintain my CPD?
- Regular CPD ensures you’re staying current in your learning and maintaining health coaching competency.
- It’s one of the ways we ensure the ongoing quality and integrity of Health Coaches as a profession.
- Retain your status as an active PREKURE Certified Health Coach and use of the PREKURE Certified Health Coach name and brand mark.

If you are a professional member of HCANZA you still need to complete your CPD submission with PREKURE each year. You aren’t however required to provide your full log of your CPD hours to us (unless you are a Mental Health Coach). As you will already be logging your CPD with HCANZA each year, simply attach evidence of your current professional status with HCANZA with your submission.
Please note – If you are a Mental Health Coach, you’ll need to provide a log of your Mental Health supervision hours, as there are no Mental Health supervision requirements as part of the HCANZA CPD process.
There is no annual admin fee for HCANZA members. If you’re a Network member, you already have access to your CPD submission form in your Teachable student account. If not, then enrol now (above) – using coupon code CPDPROF to waive your admin fee. (Note that you’ll need to provide evidence of membership with your CPD declaration to be eligible for the admin fee waiver).
What if I am a Mental Health Coach?
To remain an active PREKURE Certified Mental Health Coach and use the PREKURE Certified Mental Health Coach brand name and brand mark, we require you to complete a minimum of 10 hours of CPD training per year and undergo 4 supervision sessions per year. Mental Health coaching supervision must be undertaken with a registered psychologist or a health professional with specific training in supervision.
Email us at [email protected] if you need us to recommend a qualified mental health coaching supervisor.
Is there a cost to submitting my annual CPD?
If you are a HCAZNA member, member of another health professional body or a PREKURE Network Member there is no fee for your Annual CPD declaration.
If not, then there is an administration fee of $150 for us to process your annual CPD for you.
Why do I have to pay an annual fee?
Do I need to submit full evidence of CPD I have completed?
No, you simply need to document what CPD you have undertaken. However please note that all CPD submissions are subject to our random audit process. We’ll be in touch for further information and evidence on your declared CPD if your submission is selected for audit.
How do I gain my CPD hours?
You may gain your CPD hours in any areas relevant to the discipline of Health Coaching. Example areas of CPD include Health Coaching, Business Acumen, Lifestyle Medicine, Coaching Demos or Ask the Expert.
If you choose to join the PREKURE Network you’ll have access to ongoing CPD opportunities to maintain your annual requirements, for example:

Additionally, you may gain your CPD hours through completion of any PREKURE Short Courses or Advanced Certificates or through attendance of the annual Future of Medicine conference.
Why do I need to submit my CPD?
Completing and submitting your annual CPD confirms that you’re staying current in your learning and maintaining health coaching competency. It’s one of the ways we ensure the ongoing quality and integrity of Health Coaches as a profession.
When you submit your annual CPD declaration you maintain your status as an active PREKURE Certified Health Coach. You will also be able to continue using your PREKURE Certified Health Coach name and brand mark.
You can of course choose not to submit your annual CPD. In this instance you will still retain your original Health Coach Certificate, you won’t however be able to continue to use the PREKURE Certified Health Coach name or brand mark.
Can I choose not to stay active?
Yes, for example you may be an existing health professional (doctor, nurse, physio etc) and not looking for affiliation as a Health Coach, but just the benefits of the training.
What happens if don't submit my annual CPD?
If you do not complete and register your annual 10 hours of CPD then you will no longer be recognised as an active PREKURE Certified Health Coach and will no longer be able to use the PREKURE Certified Health Coach name or brand mark.
You will however retain your original Health Coach Certificate regardless of whether you maintain your CPD.
What if I want to become an active PREKURE Certified Health Coach in the future, after my active status has lapsed?

What is HCANZA?
HCANZA is the Health Coaching professional body for Australia and New Zealand. There are strict training and assessment rules around who qualifies for membership. PREKURE chooses to be a member of this professional body to ensure the ongoing quality and integrity of Health Coaches as a profession.
Do I need to be a member of HCANZA?
PREKURE strongly recommends its Certified Health Coaches who reside in Australia or New Zealand to hold professional membership with HCANZA. As such we have aligned our CPD requirements with HCANZA. PREKURE Certified Health Coaches who reside in Canada or the United Kingdom are strongly recommended to become a professional member of the Canadian and/or UK Health Coach Associations.
HCANZA exists to be the platform for the unity of the profession of health and wellness coaches in Australia and New Zealand. Upholding the highest standards of professional training and ongoing education of its members is one key way to achieve this.
HCANZA also offers insurance through their membership. It is up to you as an individual as to whether or not you get insurance. However, if you are running your own business as a Health Coach it is strongly advised you obtain this. See the HCANZA website for more details.
