Module 1: What is Health?

Join Professor Grant Schofield as he explores the journey humanity has been on, and how this has affected our health and wellbeing. How are healthspan and lifespan different? How do we measure health in epidemiology? What is the difference between communicable and noncommunicable disease? This module will explore these questions, familiarise you with common medical terminology and introduce you to the health system and how it works.

Module 2: What is a Health Coach?

Learn about the basic principles of health coaching. Join PREKURE’s Lead Health Coach Sonya English as she walks you through the philosophy, scope of practice, core competencies and foundational skills of health coaching. What does it mean to be a health coach? What are you able to do and what is beyond your scope? This module will explore these questions and illustrate the profound effect health coaches can have.

Module 3: Health & Chronic Disease

Learn about diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, Dementia and Alzheimer’s and anxiety and depression. Uncover the etiology and pathophysiology of these diseases and gain an understanding of the key lifestyle factors that are implicated in their development and progression. Join Prof Grant Schofield as he explains these diseases, and importantly outlines how you can help people, as a Health Coach.

Module 4: Behaviour Change 101

Join PREKURE’s CEO and behaviour change expert Louise Schofield as she delves into the science of behaviour change. By the end of this module you will have an understanding of the different theories of behaviour change and the importance of uncovering the ‘why’ or emotional driver behind behaviours. This module will equip you with a series of tools that you can use to squash unwanted behaviours and replace them with health promoting behaviours.

Module 5: Health Coaching in Practice

Learn about the realities of being a Health Coach in Primary Care as you hear from a PREKURE certified Health Coach working in primary care in a GP practice.

When does the course start and finish?

This course is available for you to start immediately as soon as you enrol with online, 24/7 access. You then have 12 months to complete your short course.

Can I go at my own pace?

Yes. You can do this course in your own time and at your own pace, with online 24/7 access. The course can easily be completed within four weeks by committing to approximately five hours of work per week. You do however have up to 12 months to complete your course.

Do I receive any certification for completing the course?

You will receive a PREKURE Certificate of Completion for this course.

What happens after I finish the course?
