Module 1: Introduction to Mental Health

In this module, you will be introduced to the scope of the current mental health crisis that is occurring on a global scale. Join PREKURE’s CEO, Louise Schofield, as she introduces the scale of the current mental health crisis globally, delves into risk factors for developing a common mental health disorder like anxiety or depression, and explores PREKURE’s Mental Health Coach approach.

Module 2: Common problems

In this module, you will learn about two of the most prevalent mental health disorders globally, anxiety and depression. Join registered psychologist Sophia Dawson as she explores and explains these disorders along with some of the most common psychiatric and personality disorders. Prof Grant Schofield explains mTBIs and common neurodegenerative diseases and outlines the promising positive effects lifestyle could have in recovery and even reversal.

Module 3: Psychiatric Medications

In this module, you will learn about different psychiatric medications and how they work in the brain to combat common mental health disorders. Join Dr Catherine Crofts as she explores the most commonly prescribed medications for mild to moderate mental health disorders, how they work, and the potential side effects.

Module 4: Scope of Practice

In this module, you will gain an understanding of the complexity of the mental health system and the different health professionals involved. Join our expert faculty members as they explain important concepts including scope of practice, the coach approach, mental health first aid and referring clients.

Module 5: Historical Views of Mental Health

In this module, you will be introduced to Stoic philosophy, the earliest form of psychotherapy. Join Paul Taylor, neuroscientist and pracademic, as he takes you on a journey through ancient times, explores Stoic teachings and unpacks the eudemonic triangle. 

Module 6: Stoicism in Practice

In this module, you will learn about the practical applications of Stoic philosophy. Join Paul Taylor as he outlines the ten practical applications; how to live a life led by your values; and ways you can set yourself up for success using Stoic tools. This is a practical module with lots of tools and exercises that you can use with your clients, and that will also help you grow as a coach specialising in mental health.

When does the course start and finish?

This course is available for you to start immediately as soon as you enrol with online, 24/7 access. You then have 12 months to complete your short course.

Can I go at my own pace?

Yes. You can do this course in your own time and at your own pace, with online 24/7 access. The course can easily be completed within four weeks by committing to approximately five hours of work per week. You do however have up to 12 months to complete your course.

Do I receive any certification for completing the course?

You will receive a PREKURE Certificate of Completion for this course.

What happens after I finish the course?

Do I need any background or previous learning in the health field?
